Sprout Coffee Roasters is a Dutch specialty roastery with an Australian spirit that has been proving since 2019 that even the worst timing can’t stop true passion. Brothers Daniell and Ruben brought the best of Down Under coffee to Eindhoven—and things have been buzzing ever since.
Daniell and Ruben were born in Eindhoven but grew up in Perth, Australia. It was there that the first chapter of their coffee story began: together, they built and ran a popular espresso bar, which became their testing ground. Ruben started making coffee at the age of thirteen after school and never really strayed far from it—it kept coming back to him like a boomerang. Meanwhile, Daniell traveled through the world’s coffee-growing regions and came to understand the vital role coffee plays in the economies of entire countries. When the two brothers returned to the Netherlands, it was almost inevitable that they would try again—this time as a roastery.
Sprout Coffee Roasters isn’t just about coffee in a bag. The roastery’s philosophy is rooted in preserving the value that farmers put into their coffee and in building the most sustainable supply chain possible. The name Sprout is no coincidence: when a coffee plant sprouts, it’s an exciting moment—the beginning of something new, the start of growth. This mindset permeates everything—from roasting to packaging design to customer service. On the label of every coffee, you’ll find an animal symbolizing the country of origin and the natural environment from which that coffee comes. The lineup intentionally covers the entire spectrum: from accessible classics for those who want a reliable cup to bold single origins for coffee geeks who want to be surprised.
Right in Eindhoven, Sprout also runs a café on the NRE campus, where you can enjoy coffee on the spot and watch the roasting process live. Today, alongside Ruben and Daniel, the roastery is led by Carlos as operations manager, and the team is growing with new faces. Australians, Mexicans, and Dutch—the team is a diverse mix of people united by one thing: a love of coffee.
