Diever Galindez - Colombia
Calendar Coffee [ IR ]
The Pink Bourbon from Huila, Colombia, is back—and this time with an even higher score. This coffee from a smallholder farmer tastes like mandarin orange with a floral hint of hibiscus.
Diever Galindez farms in the San Agustín region of Huila, Colombia, at an elevation of 1,800 meters. His lot of the Pink Bourbon variety received a score of 87.25 points, making it one of the highest-scoring coffees offered by the Irish roastery Calendar Coffee this year. The washed processing method brings out the clean, bright character of the variety—in the cup, you’ll find juicy mandarin and a delicate floral note of hibiscus. But this coffee isn’t just about flavor. Galindez is part of the Monkaaba project, founded by seven families from the village of Sevilla near San Agustín.
Today, the network brings together over 60 smallholder families who are learning together how to improve quality and build a more sustainable future. During harvest season, the Ortega-Gomez family home transforms into an open laboratory where local farmers can have their coffee roasted and cupped for free. For many of them—often young growers—this is the very first independent feedback they receive on their lots.
