Kianjiru AA
19grams [ DE ]
A specialty coffee from the southern slopes of Mount Kenya, where small family farmers grow beans with care passed down through generations. Kianjiru AA is a classic Kenyan champion—vibrant, juicy, and unmistakable.
The Kianjiru washing station has been processing coffee since 1970 and is part of the Baragwi Farmers Cooperative Society, which was founded in 1953 and today has over 16,800 members. The harvested beans undergo a precise washed process with a so-called double soak—a two-stage soaking that enhances the clarity and intensity of the resulting brew while also serving as a natural quality sorting method. Each batch is processed separately and tasted throughout the process.
The result is a coffee with a score of 89 points that perfectly meets our expectations for Kenya. In the cup, you’ll find blackcurrant and rosehip supported by the delicate sweetness of honey—a profile that works wonderfully in both the V60 and the Chemex. For those who love the liveliness of Kenyan coffee, here it is in its purest form.
