Mbeya is located in southern Tanzania, nestled between Lake Tanganyika and Lake Malawi. It is the largest producer of Arabica among Tanzania’s five coffee-growing regions, with a distinctly subtropical mountain climate—featuring humid, warm summers and dry, cool winters. Coffee here is grown primarily by smallholder farmers on small plots, with 90% of Tanzanian growers cultivating areas ranging from 0.5 to 3 hectares. Thanks to improved infrastructure and organization around the washing stations, Mbeya has become an increasingly respected name on the specialty coffee scene in recent years. The washed processing method lends the coffee clarity and precision—allowing the flavor profile to fully express the terroir.

And Mbeya’s terroir speaks clearly: the southern regions of Tanzania are characterized by citrus acidity and fruity freshness. This is confirmed in the cup: black tea, lemon, plum. An elegant, medium-bodied coffee with a slightly spicy undertone. A coffee that works equally well in a V60, French press, or espresso machine.
