Morgon Coffee Roasters is a Swedish roastery that believes that fine coffee should be accessible and understandable to everyone, not just a small circle of experts. Their coffee is typically Nordic, bright, fresh and always seasonal, packaged in iconic square boxes that in colour and shape refer to shipping containers in Gothenburg harbour.
The roastery was founded in the summer of 2018 by Markus Vestergaard and Gabriella Sand, who together have over 25 years of experience in the coffee world. They went through all sorts of roles - from baristas and trainers to consultants and judges in international competitions - before deciding to open their own business. They founded Morgon with a simple goal: to create their own favourite roastery, offering only the beans they love and want to drink every day.
Their emphasis is on long-term relationships with farmers, many of whom they have known personally for many years. This ethical approach allows them to source the best microlots, which they then roast with the utmost care to bring out their unique origins and story. The result is coffee with a distinct character, accompanied by a playful visual style inspired by postcards from their travels, making each Morgon pack a little work of art as well as a taste experience.

This batch comes from the Chelbesa processing station in the Gedeb region of Ethiopia, which lies at an astonishing 2,100 metres above sea level. The founders of Morgon Roasters visited the site in 2019 and were struck by the contrast between their home city of Gothenburg and these majestic mountains, where local farmers grow some of the sweetest coffee cherries in the world. With organic certification and extreme attention to bean sorting on site, Chelbesa represents the pinnacle of Ethiopian production, which the roastery is proud to return to year after year. In a cup of espresso, Chelbesa surprises with its incredible juiciness and pure sweetness that is typical of washed Ethiopian coffees from this altitude. The flavor profile is built on bold notes of red currant, complemented by a refreshing line reminiscent of lemonade. It is a coffee with a sparkling character and light body, roasted specifically for espresso to bring out its natural fruitiness and elegance.

Morgon Coffee RoastersChelbesa coffee from Swedish roaster Morgon Coffee Roasters is a celebration of the purity and sweetness offered by the highest mountains of Ethiopia's Gedeb region.
This batch, roasted specifically for filter preparation, comes from the processing station of the same name, located at an impressive altitude of 2,100 metres above sea level. The founders of the roastery first arrived here on motorcycles after heavy rains and were immediately impressed by the precision of the local producers and the quality of the deep red, incredibly sweet cherries. Thanks to organic certification and gentle wet processing, the Dega and Wolisho grains retain their sparkly character, reflecting the unique terroir of Ethiopia's garden and forest patches. In the cup, the coffee displays the extraordinary juiciness and complex sweetness that is typical of the region. The main flavour line is made up of bold notes of redcurrant, complemented by a fresh character reminiscent of home-made lemonade. The overall impression is light, elegant and very clean, with a subtle floral aftertaste. It is the ideal coffee for those looking for bright fruitiness, balance and high quality in a filter cup, backed by an organic approach.
