The coffee comes from the Rio Pardo region in the state of São Paulo, where farmers grow the Obata and Catuai varieties at an altitude of around 1,000 metres above sea level. The natural processing, in which the cherries are dried on terraces and in wooden silos in Tulhas, gives the coffee its dense body and natural sweetness. The result is a balanced cup with low acidity and a long, chocolaty finish. Milk chocolate and hazelnut dominate the flavour, complemented by subtle notes of stone fruit and cranberry.
This makes the coffee very clean and harmonious, ideal for espresso and milk drinks. Brazil Monteiro Lobato thus shows that even classic Brazilian coffee can be surprisingly layered and modern if processed with care and respect for the origin.
