Gatina Washing Station has been operating since 1968 and is the heart of 790 farmers (including 280 women) associated with the Mugaga cooperative. The station lies between the western slopes of Mount Kenya and the eastern Aberdares Mountains—simply put, serious coffee country. Each farmer grows coffee on a small area, often just a few hundred trees, but thanks to their meticulous approach, they deliver top quality. No compromises, just hand-picked ripe cherries processed using the classic Kenyan method. Andy Roasters from South Antwerp know what they're doing.
Founders Dave Haesen and Kjell Maes, who already run Butchers Coffee, have opted for a minimalist approach at Andy's, emphasizing the coffee itself. They roast on site, have their own running club, and host DJ sets every Saturday. This Kenya offers a profile full of roses, lemon, and strawberries—a classic from Nyeri made to perfection.
