This coffee is grown by the Montero family farm in the Tarrazu region, where three generations have been producing specialty coffee their own way. Founder Eli, his son Carlos, and grandson Jacob have put together a team that local producers are eager to learn from when it comes to quality. Carlos and his family recently visited Morgon Coffee Roasters in Gothenburg to connect the coffee chain from plantation to cup. This Catuai coffee has undergone a honey process, which gives it a smooth, full flavor with notes of chocolate cookies and ripe plums.

Catuai is a variety bred from Caturra and Mundo Nova—a robust plant that can withstand the mountain climate and winds at an altitude of 1,900 meters. The Tarrazu region is known for its volcanic soils and high-altitude agriculture, where coffee is grown slowly and thoroughly. The result is a balanced coffee with a creamy body and texture that can be enjoyed every day. The Montero family simply knows what they are doing – and a cup of their coffee will confirm this at the first sip.
